Instructions:Clean the areas to be glued. Apply a thin layer to one or both surface. Press the two pieces together. Allow to dry for 30 minutes. Full adhesion in 12 hrs. I am interested in your StyroGoo for a project involving expanded polystyrene (EPS). I want to be certain that StyroGoo will not dissolve or otherwise cause damage to the EPS. Can you provide confirmation?
Styrogoo is made specifically for EPS (the white beaded foam) and XPS (like our Art & Sign Foam, Dow Blueboard, and Owens-Corning pink Foamular, and Styrofoam), and it will not dissolve them. We have been using StyroGoo ourselves and have sold thousands of bottles over the past several years with no reports of any harm whatsoever to EPS foam.
You are wise to be cautious, I used some Liquid Nails Foam Safe Glue about 12 years ago. I tested it and in two weeks all was fine. I then glued about 200 feet of foam molding to a building and almost a year later the foam started falling off. Upon inspection I found that the glue had dissolved the foam. There must have been some slow acting solvents that acted on the foam over time.
I did a sample glue joint last night on EPP and it appears to be taking a long time to dry. What's up?
EPP, expanded polypropylene, is a closed cell foam so it will take much longer for the glue to dry in the middle where no air gets to it. I think you will need something that has a solvent which dissolves polypropylene to get a 100% bond. The Styrogoo will stick like crazy to just about anything, but it won't chemically bond to the type of foam you are using. I have used Styrogoo to glue closed cell polyethylene and it sticks really well, but I could tear it apart, and had to wait twice as long for it to dry. Applying a thin layer of glue to each side helps it dry faster.
When you glue Styrofaom, EPS or XPS which are open cell foams, with Styrogoo the foam will tear before the glue lets go.
What is the difference between your foam glues?
Here is a brief comparison of all of our glues. We really like Foam Fusion because it is nontoxic, but it takes more patience.

Boost added to powdered foam coats:

- sets up in 30min with All Purpose and Create Coat, and 90min with Exterior Foam Coat
- dries 30-60min with All Purpose and Create Coat, and overnight with Exterior Foam Coat
- can be used on porous plus glass, metal, painted surfaces, etc (cannot even be chipped off metal with a hammer)
- has body to it, so can be used on uneven surfaces
- cannot be cut through with hot wire tools

I have enjoyed working with StyroGoo on a lot of my RC Foam Airplane projects. Compared to Beacon's Foam Tac, it is more economical.
However, since one bottle has lasted me a long time, its viscosity has become a little heavier. Can you tell me which would be better to use to thin it out, alcohol or acetone?

I love every product I have purchased. We had really bad winds that tore my Aladdin sculpture in half. I thought it was lost but tried the StyroGoo. I need to repaint it but it is as strong as ever. Saved me hours of work.

StyroGoo's tack holds really well at first placement of a piece, and allows me some room to position before it becomes solid. Works way better than tacky glue and I have more working time than hot glue.

Fantastic glue, I use it to bond balsa leading and trailing edge to my custom cut foam core wings. Best adhesion when you apply a smooth bead to one side, make contact then pull apart then re-attach . Instant bond which is permanent after glue has cured. Cannot pull apart without breaking the balsa and foam. Never had a glue failure yet. Been using this glue for approximately 4 years. These wings are also subjected to moisture because the wings are built for water-based RC airplanes, meaning they can only fly off and land on water.

I've been using this for a couple weeks now, almost exclusively on foam. It holds very well and seems pretty sturdy. It dries within about a minute but takes longer to fully cure.
It does make a lot of "glue wisps" while working, but these are not nearly as annoying as those from hot glue. If it gets on my fingers it is easy to clean off as well.

This glue is great. Dries pretty fast, and clean up is easy. I was easily able to cut through it with my hotwire tools. The glue holds together strong as well.

Yesterday I glued three strips of 64th ply --my second favorite building material-- to a piece of Daiso sheet foam --my first favorite. After about 12 hours, I was surprised that Elmers Wood Glue did so poorly. That might be an advantage if you want a temporary bond.
The fact that the wood is bent up is a sign that the wood was structurally weakened by the pulling of the free end. It was indeed the StyroGoo that was the best, followed by epoxy. I believe that the lower viscosity of StyroGoo gets deeper into the pores of the foam. Although it doesn't clean up with alcohol as well as epoxy, it is quicker to apply because the spout is the applicator. Epoxy has to be mixed and then applied with a stick.
